Position Description

Turner, Maine: We invite a friendly Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join a Federally Qualified Health Center operating 4 clinics serving a multicultural, rural population of over 10,000 people in central Maine. Founded in the 1970s, 3 practices are located between Lewiston (second largest city in Maine) and Augusta (state capital), with their newest clinic in Bridgton. Each site is about 1 hour from Portland. This respected organization offers primary care with integrated behavioral health, plus care managers and a patient assistance coordinator in a nationally recognized Patient-Centered Medical Home model.

Candidates certified for all ages/family medicine or adult medicine are all welcome. CONFIDENT NEW GRADUATES are encouraged to apply. Two experienced physicians are ready to provide support and mentoring.

You will have a convenient 4 day/week schedule (40 hours) practicing alongside experienced providers delivering compassionate outpatient care to people of all ages, pediatrics to geriatrics. Your patient panel will be based upon the scope of your certification. People interested in addiction medicine will receive support to certify in this area. You will be impressed with this collaborative and collegial organization, and their excellent clinical support teams. In this important role, you will make a difference in the lives of your patients – and enjoy a family-friendly lifestyle for yourself.

You will earn a competitive salary (based on experience) plus benefits including relocation assistance, 100% paid family health and dental insurance, a generous amount of paid time off for vacations and sick leave, more paid leave plus a budget for your CME, participation in a retirement plan, and more. NHSC/Federal medical education loan repayment is also available here.

Maine is the #2 State for Best Quality of Life, and the #3 Safest State in the US. Turner is a rural town of 6000 covering a large, historically agricultural area west of Augusta – and north of Lewiston and Auburn, home to more than 100,000 people and many amenities. This diverse community boasts an active arts scene for music and theatre, organized sports for every age, and strong educational offerings. Lewiston is the site of Bates College, a top ranked Liberal Arts college. Lewiston hosts an annual Balloon Festival that delights thousands of families.

The Turner area offers scenic hiking/biking trails, placid lakes and peaceful rivers (and waterfront homes), plus award-winning golf courses. You can enjoy the waterways via kayak or canoe, motorboat or pontoon – whatever speed you enjoy. Winter sports include cross country skiing, snowmobiling and snow shoeing – with easy proximity to downhill ski resorts, including a popular family facility right in Lewiston.

Turner is an hour from Portland, just named #1 Most Livable in the US. Check out the nightlife in the popular Old Port district. Dine in your choice of hundreds of fantastic seafood and other award winning restaurants. Fly from the convenient international Jetport. Portland hosts semi-pro sports teams, has interesting museums, and live music ranges from small-club jazz to the acclaimed symphony orchestra.
